📘 This book is an exploration of Zen Buddhism, from the "point of view" of blindness. It tackles subjects like the nature of the self, meditation practice, the nature and cause of suffering and the application of Zen to everyday life. The book's structure follows the path of a one week retreat, and therefore the chapters fall into the stages of a spiritual journey. It should go without saying, of course, that this journey is personal and idiosyncratic. I make absolutely no claims for this journey to have any meaning or significance beyond me. If you happen to find some, that's not the author's fault!Steve Hobson was born in Leicester in 1952. He read American Studies at Nottingham University, where he first came into contact with Zen philosophy. He has worked as a teacher of English and Communications, as a lecturer in Theatre Arts, a Counsellor, a radio presenter, a videographer, and a writer and poet.He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1992, and was registered blind eight years later. He has had one volume of poems published, and a book about classical music, Joining the Dots.He is married, and lives in Yorkshire.
