📗 2009 reprint of 1963 edition. Joseph Murphy was born in 1898 in a small town in the County of Cork, Ireland. He was brought up in a strict Catholic household, as were most of his compatriots. After leaving Ireland for the United States, he eventually founded his own church in Los Angeles. At first he attracted only a small number of participants, but eventually his message of optimism won converts. He became an important proponent of the New Thought Movement and named his ministry The Church of Divine Science. Dr. Murphy wrote more than 30 books, his most famous being The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. It became an immediate bestseller and is considered one of the best self-help books ever written. His basic theme is that the solution to problems lies within you. Elements outside of your, whatever their origin, should not change your thinking. The power of change can be unlocked by tapping the power of your subconscious mind.
