📕 Born Lowen Lee Slagle to Lee Roy and Beulah (Catlett) Slagle on a 90-acre farm in southeast Nebraska, Lee Shannon (radio name) spent 38 years as a disc jockey for Country Music Radio stations across the country. From the beginning of his broadcasting career at a small 100 watt, AM radio station (KTNC) in Falls City, Nebraska, to such places as the Quad Cities on the banks of the Mississippi River, to Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Florida and California, Lee Shannon won many fans with his easygoing style, spinning the records of the stars, the up and comers, and the want-to be’s in Country Music.He is a two-time Country Music Association Disc Jockey of the Year (1980 and 1984) and was the 50th inductee into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame in 1998. He is retired and lives in South Florida with Lee Ann, his wife of 44 years, and his family.
