📖 " ... young people who lived in the sixties are in their middle ages now. This age group likes recalling their youth. As my parents were also members of this generation, they often told about those years." (Introduction) One well-known feature of the beat generation is music that penetrated the sixties. Beside changes in pop music, political and social changes determine this period. My assumption is that these processes took place not side by side but they crossed each other. Although this young, nonconformist generation originated in Britain, the arising mass culture carried new music, ideas and lifestyle throughout the world. In this way English started to become a global language. Therefore in the last chapter with different lesson plans I demonstrate how music and lyrics can be useful means of teaching and learning the English language. This book can serve as help for students who study about British history, culture and sociology. I hope it can also be enjoyable for people of the beat generation; and for everybody who is eager to learn more about this extraordinary period of human history.
