📒 It is indisputable fact that the children of Sudan, north and south states, have been denied their basic rights by all parties to the conflict. The government of Sudan, had not given much efforts to ameliorate the situation. Many who were considered street children, mostly southerners and Nuba, were removed from their families without notice. They were denied their right to identity when they were given new Arab names and denied their right to freedom of religion when they were subjected to forcible conversion; the government's recent family reunification project may mitigate some damage done to these children. Some children have been captured in military raids on their villages and taken into household slavery by their captors. Dinka and Nuba children have predominated among those seized and exploited in this way. The government denies the existence of the problem and has made no effort to stop the practice or to punish those who treat Sudanese children as slaves. In addition, underage boys were forcibly recruited into the army or government-sponsored militias.
