🔖 The book consists of eight chapters. Chapter I includes introduction to the family of galectin proteins and the specific role of galectin-3 in various diseases and associated metabolic disorders. It also includes the objective of present investigation. Literature on Galectin-3, regulation of immune response, cloning systems, Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) mediated inflammatory responses and past work on galectin-3 in inflammation and obesity was reviewed in chapter II. Chapter III describes the experimental procedures in present investigations. A known cloning system was used for glycoprotein expression and role of immunomodulation by glycoprotein in macrophages, adipocytes and mixed culture was investigated in the work. All the experimental methods employed were thoroughly validated for accuracy and precision. Chapter IV describes the results and discussion of the experimental procedures. The scope and future of the present work is discussed in chapter V & VI. Chapter VII is presented with references that were cited for the review of literature and methodology of work that was carried out.
