📘 Monolithically integrated tunable laser diodes will play an important part in next generation optical networks in reducing cost, chip size and complexity. With the advent of Super Channel Wavelength Division Multiplexing where the ITU grid spacing is no longer fixed at 50 GHz but has many wavelengths within this 50 GHz spacing the ability of a tunable laser to provide continuous tuning over the C-band is highly desired. This book covers one such solution which is a Vernier tunable C-band laser diode.
