📘 Coordination compounds (metal complexes) play an essential role in the chemical industry and life itself. Present work has been undertaken on synthesis and structural studies of metal complexes of alkyl and hydroxyl derivatives of pyridine. The unshared pair of electrons on nitrogen atom of pyridine gives it strong nucleophilic (basic) properties of a typical tertiary amine. Alkyl (R) & hydroxyl (OH-) substitution causes enhancement of its basic properties enabling it to be selected as ligand in metal complexation along with methacrylic acid as co-ligand.
