🔖 Ayurveda the science of life presents invaluable source of ethnopharmacological resources. This traditional knowledge inspires novel drug discovery from natural products. Reverse pharmacology taking a Bedside to Bench approach can be a rational approach in that direction. The book presents the development of herbal anti-tubercular adjunct therapy from the Vedic plant Aswagandha (Withania somnifera). The study details description of Aswagandha as a drug with poly-pharmacological effect and various other important facts including cultivation, phytochemistry to chemical biology. Then the initial herbo-epidemological study done in clinical set-up has been enumerated. Finally the Bedside to Bench study where the clinical study was validated and studied at the molecular level using chromatography and in-silico studies.A novel mechanism of action behind the observed anti-tubercular effect was observed where phytomolecules from the plant has been found to interact with the target. This translational approach towards integrative medicine research will encourage multidisciplinary researchers interested towards traditional medicine and drug discovery.
