📙 Mithun (Bos frontalis) is a unique free - range bovine species available in the North Eastern hill (NEH) region of India. Recent statistics indicates that the mithun population is decreasing gradually in NEH region. Various factors are influenced and some of the factors are lack of proper feeding management and declining land area for grazing in this region. Greater efforts are required from all quarters to preserve the mithun population to enhance the socio-economic status of this region. There are various methods of feeding system and feeding materials are available in semi- intensive method of mithun rearing in this region.
