📖 This volume contains the "Roster of the New Jersey Officers of the Continental Line, Army of the Revolution, Who Were Eligible to Membership in the Society of the Cincinnati;" and the "Roster of the New Jersey Officers of the Continental Line, Army of the Revolution, Who Died in the Service, or Before the Society Was Organized." The rosters are arranged by rank in descending order, with officers listed alphabetically by surname within their rank. In addition to name and rank, the rosters usually indicate the names of commanding officers; names or designation of military unit; and rank attained. Many records also contain notations indicating whether the officer was wounded, killed, or taken prisoner; and date of discharge or date of death. A copy of the warrant signed at Princeton, New Jersey, September 23, 1783; a list of members of the Society of the Cincinnati in 1788; and a full name index add to the value of this work.
