📗 Photography is more popular than ever today, with cameras being readily available on all smart phones. These phones are in everyone's pocket virtually ready to use on a moments notice leading to photographs being made in historic numbers. Ordinary photographs are being used more and more in communication, taking the place of words in many cases.Yet, great photographs are difficult to make and most of these popular snapshots are simply mediocre in nature. By comparing your photographs only to the vast majority of mediocre images contributes further to the belief that your photographs are worthy. This underlining problem of the multitude of mediocre photographs, and the many image-makers who believe their work is exceptional has lead to the general belief that photography is easy. It is this combination of factors that has convinced me of the need to write this book, highlighting the importance of taking photography seriously and looking at the roadblocks that need to be overcome in order to achieve really good photographs. Further, it is important to define exceptional photography and to study how it can help us improve as photographers.
