📒 Rawal Lake is a man-made reservoir which provides drinking water to Rawalpindi and Islamabad residents. Its area is approximately 1900 hectares located within the isolated section of Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP), offers a look of natural ecological system. Due to the hazards to the flora and fauna of Margalla Hills, Government of Pakistan gave it the status of a national park in 1984. The main source of water supply for lake is the Korang River, and its tributaries. The water from the lake joins river Soan near Sihala. The underground water is of good condition having a pH of 7.4. Rawal Lake is a very beautiful place for outing and it attracts a large number of migratory birds because its beauty and location.
