📙 This book provides a case of environmental change and communal conflict arising from climatic conditions and its desertification consequences to the northern Yobe State, in Nigeria. The study used, both qualitative and quantitative research techniques to obtain the data for this study The physical indicators of environmental change in the region include the diminishing amount of rainfall and increase in temperatures over the years, extent of bare ground, vegetation cover, dry of water bodies, and increment of sand dune. This study found that nine local governments in the State are under the threat of desertification This study suggest some remedial conflict resolution mechanism such as, sharing of resources by stakeholders at different times of the year. Prioritization of resources according to need, Creation of grazing reserves, as well as payment of compensation for animals and crops loss, and gazetting of grazing reserve. The rational use of the grazing lands and farm land presents a symbiotic use of organic manure for the farmers, while the herdsmen gain opportunity to graze on the farm residues after harvest free of charge.
