📕 Conflicts over common pool resource is a book written from a study undertaken by the author concerning violent atrocities involving two communities from Luo tribe who live in the borders of Nyando and Nyakach Sub Counties. The communities involved in these conflicts migrated to this areas in the 19th century and settled in there because the area was neglected by indigenous clans owing to its being flood prone.Consequently, these conflicts are often caused by the use of common resources found in the flood plains along River Nyando, which include water, papyrus, fish, wetlands, and grazing land. The Kenya Government has not adjudicated the land and issued title deeds to the users of this land, hence ownership has remained open to every user. However, the conflicts have resulted into loss of economic gains, disruption of school programs, and loss of lives to the feuding groups. Although many management mechanisms have been put in place to contain these conflicts, mistrust has remained within the hearts of victims. The author therefore recommends that permanent solution be put in place by the government to foster future prosperity of the households from these two communities.
