C - Reactive Protein 12+

📘 This was a study for patients with Periodontitis. This clinical study consisted of 20 patients between the age group of 30-60 years. Study showed the presence of elevated levels of C-Reactive protein in gingival crevicular fluid of patients with periodontitis. Non-surgical periodontal treatment was effective in reducing the levels of C-Reactive protein in gingival crevicular fluid. This study data support the hypothesis that levels of gingival crevicular fluid biomarkers specific for three aspects of periodontitis-inflammation, collagen degradation and bone turnover-correlate with the clinical features of periodontal disease and suggest that elevated gingival crevicular fluid levels of C-Reactive protein are candidate biomarkers of periodontal disease. Hence gingival crevicular fluid CRP determination should always be considered as inflammatory marker before treatment of Periodontitis.
