📙 A Doorkeeper in God's Household is an important historical document as it chronicles the nearly thirty years that John Hulst served at Dordt College-as College Pastor, Theology Professor, Dean of Students, Vice President for Student Affairs and, finally, College President. In addition, its early chapters give wonderful pictures of what it was like to grow up Christian Reformed in Grand Rapids in the 1940's, and what it was like to pastor both rural and urban CRC churches in the 50's and 60's. And it is more than a matter-of fact record, for Hulst has liberally scattered anecdotes throughout the memoir-stories that are tragic, comic, mischievous, heart-warming.
