📘 Marie Bashkirtseff (born Maria Konstantinovna Bashkirtseva, 1858-1884) was a Ukrainian-born painter, sculptor and diarist. From the age of 13, Bashkirtseff began keeping a journal -- originally titled I Am the Most Interesting Book of All -- her personal account of the struggles of women artists is a revealing story of the bourgeoisie. Her correspondence with the writer Guy de Maupassant, were published in 1891.
