🔖 Alexander Lange Kielland was a 19th century Norwegian author. Even though born into a wealthy family Kielland always supported the less fortunate. He was known for treating the workers well in the factory he owned. Among his most famous works are the novels Garman & Worse (1880), Skipper Worse (1882), and Poison (Gift, 1883). Garman and Worse tells the story of a rich family from Stavanger, Norway. The family makes foolish decisions and has both love and tragedy in their lives. Kielland disliked the clergy and there is a marvelously villainous priest in the story.
