📖 Five smooth stones come about as a result of what happens in 1 Samuel 17:40. "Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine." The philistine was goliath, a giant over six cubits tall who tormented Gods people. All trembled at the thought of facing him as it meant sure death. David, a young lad, was not afraid. He had trusted God in other battles and knew he would guide him again. David did not use the armament of men, but trusted Gods covering to protect him.
