📗 This early work by Alice Hegan Rice was originally published in 1903. The story begins in an orphanage, where an orphan girl, named Lovey Mary, is given the responsibility of looking after a baby boy called Tommy. Tommy's mother eventually returns to claim him but Mary and Tommy run away and share an adventure. This is a fascinating read from the author of the 1902 bestseller, Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch, and is an excellent example of Rice's work. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions.
