📗 Before we begin, let's make one thing clear. I am NOT a girl detective. I don't prance around with a magnifying glass in my pocket or a little satchel to keep my notes or fingerprint kits. I don't hunt down haunted mansions. I don't interrogate seedy pawn shop owners. Well, I may have done that before. Like, three years ago, if you want to get all quantitative about it. Three years ago I would have dropped everything, just to solve the murder of the mayor. Or find out who purloined the prized paintings. Do these things sound familiar to you? And/or overly alliterated? They should, because just three years ago, I was a living breathing trope, if not a total cliché. I was a classic girl detective character. I was a Nancy Drew. I was one of those meddling kids. Yes, that may all have been true, but my point is that it was all the past. Whoever I may have been, I am not that person anymore. Contrary to popular belief, people can change. I did change And I would have liked to stay changed, but that didn't happen. Instead, my best friends decided to pop back into my life, and subsequently , so did a mystery.
