🔖 This study intends to reinforce the obvious necessity to achieve greater rigor in the surveillance of food labeling in Brazil. First of all, the objective was to identify the adequacy of labels´ information of diet, light and transgenic products to Brazilian legislation. Secondly, we discussed how the lack of information can result in risks to individual and public health. About the labeling of transgenic food, we face a new legislation, and it will certainly take time to enforce it. As main conclusion, it is possible to affirm that such inadequacies can imply in risks to the health of individuals and disrespect consumer's rights
