📘 Establishment of Land Settlement schemes to settle the landless and jobless Kenyans has been used as a means to achieve sustainable development through increased agricultural production. As pressure on land increases, the balance between agricultural production and environmental conservation becomes critical and necessary. If this balance is not properly safeguarded through the framework of effective and efficient land and environmental policies then the outcome of rampant degradation of the environment becomes inevitable. It is against this backdrop that this book assesses the impacts of the Land Settlement Schemes in Lamu District - Kenya, with a view to highlighting the emerging need of providing sustainable solutions to development challenges.
