📗 This is a new survey on the ways, paper mills are treating their effluent today in economical compatible and ecological sustainable way. Methods meeting best available technique and representing state of the art are shown and the special requirements of papermills using them are described. The book will be good help for everybody dealing with environmental protection in paper industry, especially dealing with water and wastewater treatment. It will be helpful as well as everyday's source of information as for just having a look at what is possible and sustainable today. Regarding legal requirements focus is laid on regulations of the European Community. Therefore the Directive for Integrated Pollution and Prevention Control (IPPC), including best available technique reference paper, and the Water Framework Directive WFD are explained in detail. Modern treatment methods used in paper industry for effluent treatment, like anaerobic extended granular sludge bed reactors (EGSB), different types of aerobic film reactors (as for instance MBBR) and membrane bioreactors (MBR) are described and the specific design data for wastewater treatment in papermills are given.
