📙 Duetsch (1855-1941) was a Russian revolutionary who was an early member of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party and one of the leaders of that organization's Menshevik factions. In 1884 he was sentenced to 13 years hard labour in Siberia but later escaped and lived in exile until the Revolution of 1917. This English translation of his memoir, illustrated with photographs throughout, was first published in 1903.
