📖 Oliphant (1828-97) was a Scottish novelist and historical writer whose fictional works encompass domestic realism, the historical novel and tales of the supernatural. This collection of stories first published together in book form in 1889 revolves around the inhabitants of Dinglefield Green and also includes one unrelated story, My Faithful Johnny (1880).
