📗 Mary Louisa Molesworth (nee Stewart, 1839-1921) was an English writer best known for her children's stories which appeared under the name of "Mrs Molesworth," and which earned her the reputation of being "the Jane Austen of the nursery." The majority of her works were aimed at girls who had outgrown fairytales but were too young for adult fiction. This collection of eight stories, each with a full-page illustration by Walter Crane (1845-1915), one of the most influential children's illustrators of his time, was first published in 1888.
