📙 Max Brand was the pen name used by American author Frederick Schiller Faust (1892-1944) for his thoughtful and literary Westerns, and also the name under which he created the character Dr James Kildare in a series of pulp fiction stories. Dr Kildare achieved great popularity in a variety of media for a period spanning several decades. This Western novel was first serialised in six parts in Argosy All-Story Weekly commencing 1 October 1921 before being published in book form.
