📓 This outline history traverses the struggle for socialism in Australia from the 1890s to the 1980s. It combines theoretical anaylsis with historical assessment and gives a factual overview of the positive contribution made by Australian communists in struggle for the Australian people's immediate interests side by side with struggle for the socialist objective. It traces the solidarity links between the Australian and international communist movement through its various phases. It brings out the consistent efforts to apply the overall principles of Marxist-Leninist science to the particular conditions of Australia and presents historical evidence of the positive work done by the Communist Party of Australia on a united basis up until the 1960s. It analyses the divisions which developed in the various sectors of the communist movement in the 1970s and 1980s. It concludes at the point of new efforts to build communist unity. Recognising that much remains to be examined, it provides a basis for study and discussion by all forces committed to the ongoing struggle for a socialist Australia.
