📗 The Kiev Museum of Historic Treasures was opened in 1969. In it are exhibited masterpieces of jewelry of different epochs and countries, made of gold, silver, electrum and platinum, and set with precious stones - diamonds, rubies, sapphires, topazes, amethysts and others. Most of the exhibits come from the collection of the State Historical Museum of the UkrSSR in Kiev, others are from museums in Chernihiv, Kirovograd, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Bakhchisarai, Simferopol, Kerch and other cities of Ukraine. The Institute of Archeology, under the UkrSSR Academy of Sciences, which for many years now has been excavating Scythian barrows and ancient Slavic settlements, has made some considerable contributions to the museum. In the past few years it has handed over to it several thousands of objets d'art of gold and silver dating to the 5th-4th centuries В.C. Among them are masterpieces of world importance: the silver vase from the Gaimanova Barrow in Zaporizhya Region, the pectoral from the Tovsta (Thick) Barrow in Dnipropetrovsk Region, and many other objects unearthed in different regions of Ukraine. The present collection of the Kiev Museum of Historic Treasures has three departments.
