📙 This book covers the main research by-Soviet scientists, conducted under the auspices of the Soviet Scientists' Committee for the Defense of Peace Against Nuclear Threat, on the consequences of a nuclear war. Leading Soviet scientists describe in a popular manner, but on a high scientific level, the essence of those vital investigations, which may well become the turning point in this extremely dangerous and senseless nuclear arms race. The scientists' conclusion is clear and unambiguous: the use of even a fraction of the nuclear arsenal that exists in the world today would result in a "nuclear night" and a "nuclear winter", which would ultimately cause unprecedented global ecological disaster. Such an "atmospheric bomb" would mean the extermination of all living things on Earth.
