📙 The "source book", or "reading book", as it is currently called, has become an established part of the paraphernalia of collegiate education. The study of original source materials is, of course, as old as education itself. but along the democratization route emphasis moved away from extensive reliance upon source materials in favor of the much-maligned, and sometimes deservedly so, "textbook".
