Neonatology: Pathophysiology and Management of the Newborn

📗 As this textbook arrives at a fourth edition, the specialty of neonatology has moved through its infancy, childhood, and adolescence to a robust adulthood. Far and away the largest boarded subspecialty of pediatrics, neonatology still occupies about one sixth of the training time of pediatric residents. A similar prominence is found in the table of contents of research publications and among the platform presentations at national meetings. The six to eight billion dollars annually expended on neonatal intensive care in the United States represent an appreciable part of the total health budget.
