Russian Impressionism

📓 Although the first works of Russian Impressionism appeared more than 125 years ago, Impressionism in Russia remains to this day an unknown and underrated phenomenon. While the large number of general Western publications on Impressionism also contain examples from Russian painting, these works are, for the most part, incidental. In the majority of cases, they are in fact a poor reflection of the scope and specific character of Impressionism in Russia.
